Using two SIM cards, one for each user

It is possible to activate a cell phone plan with your carrier using an eSIM instead of a physical nano-SIM. There are two ways to use dual-SIM on Apple's iPhone 13 Pro, 13 Pro, iPhone 13, and 13 mini: two active eSIMs, or one eSIM and one nano-SIM. The nano-SIM and eSIM in the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max are part of the Dual SIM technology found in the iPhone 12. 1

In what ways can dual SIM be used?

Use a separate phone number for personal and business calls.

Traveling outside of your home country or region? Consider getting a local data plan.

Plan your voice and data usage separately.

It's possible to make and receive voice calls, as well as text messages, using either of your phone numbers as long as you're running iOS 13 or later.

2 One cellular data network can be used at a time by your iPhone.

It is essential that you have iOS 14.5 or later if you want to use 5G with Dual SIM on an iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max

It is necessary to unlock your iPhone in order to use it on two different networks at the same time. Any other carrier's plans will not work. Your second SIM won't work if your first SIM was provided by a CDMA carrier. For more information, talk to your wireless provider.

Check with your company administrator if this feature is supported if you have a business or corporate cellular service plan.

Using two eSIMs for two or more cellular plans—two active at the same time—is possible on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, and iPhone mini.

You can also use a physical nano-SIM for one cellular plan and an eSIM for another.

It is possible to use a nano-SIM card for one cell phone plan and a virtual SIM card for another cell phone plan on the iPhone 12 models, iPhone 11 models, the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR models.

eSIM can be your sole means of cellular communication if your carrier supports it and you don't have a nano-SIM.

Using the eSIM provided by your carrier, you can use your iPhone without a physical SIM card.

eSIM plans can be activated by following these simple steps.

One eSIM can be used at a time but multiple eSIMs can be stored. To change eSIMs, go to Settings, then Cellular or Mobile Data, and then the plan you want to use. After that, simply tap on the Turn This Line On button.

In the screenshot, you can see that the Secondary strategy has been chosen.

Your plans should be labelled.

Label your plans once the second one has been activated. A business plan and a personal plan, for instance, could each have their own label.

Use these labels to designate a phone number for cellular data, to assign a number to your contacts so that you know which one you will use when making or receiving phone calls and messages.

The label of any number can be altered at a later time by going to Settings, selecting Cellular or Mobile Data, and then selecting the phone number for which the new label is desired. Then click Cellular Plan Label and select a new label or type in a custom label for your cellular plan.

Use this as your starting point.

To contact someone who isn't saved in your Contacts app, you'll need to enter a phone number here. iMessage and FaceTime can now be used with different cellular plans on iOS 13 and later. As of iOS 13 and later, you can select one or both numbers.

The default phone number can be selected here, or you can designate a specific phone number to be used for cellular data only. It will be your default phone number. Turn on Allow Cellular Data Switching if you want your iPhone to use cellular data from both plans, depending on coverage and availability.

Calls, text messages, and other types of data can all be routed through two separate phone numbers.

Here's how to use the two phone numbers you just set up on your iPhone.

The image includes contact information, including a phone number that can be dialled.

Ensure that your iPhone remembers which phone number to dial.

A single phone number can be used to make a call to one of your contacts. When you call a contact on your iPhone, it automatically dials the same number you dialled the last time you spoke with them. Default numbers are used if you haven't called the contact. You can also designate a specific phone number to use when making a call to a specific person. To get started, simply follow these simple steps:

Grasp the contact with your finger.

To change your cellular plan, select Preferred Cellular Plan from the drop-down menu.

In order to make use of that contact, enter its phone number.

Telephone calls can be made and received.

Either number can be used to make and receive phone calls.

iOS 13 and later allows you to answer incoming calls on a different phone number while on a phone call if the other phone's carrier supports Wi-Fi calling. Allow Cellular Data Switching must be enabled when you're on a call with a line that isn't your designated cellular-data line. The call will be routed to voicemail if you don't answer it and have voicemail set up with your carrier. Your data provider may charge additional fees or data usage for Wi-Fi calling, so check with your carrier to see if it is available.

This means that either your carrier doesn't support Wi-Fi calling or you don't have Wi-Fi calling enabled on your device.

3 You may not have allowed cell phone data switching on. If you've set up voicemail with your carrier while you're on a call, any incoming calls on your other phone number will go to voicemail. 4 Your secondary number, on the other hand, will not send you a missed-call notification. Incoming calls to the same phone number can be received by using Call Waiting feature. Turn on call forwarding and all calls from one number will be forwarded to another so you don't miss an important call. Consult your carrier to see if this option is available and if there are any additional costs.
