How to use iOS16 to transfer eSIM to another iPhone via Bluetooth

Apple unveiled iOS 16 during the WWDC 2022 keynote earlier this month. Though the company management shared a good number of qualities however not all of them are highlighted. Additionally, the capability to wirelessly transfer an eSIM number to another iPhone is one of the features that has drawn everyone's attention.  The issue of how to transfer eSIM from one to another iPhone, is prevalent mostly in cases when a newly launched iPhone is bought by existing set of iPhone users.

iPhones enable two SIM cards as long as you use an eSIM to link the second card. However, moving an eSIM from one iPhone to another has proven to be challenging. The iOS 16 version, which lets you transfer the number through Bluetooth, appears to be Apple's solution to the problem.

When one attempts to configure an eSIM on the iPhone, Apple modifies the settings. While using iOS 16, one can Bluetooth-transfer the eSIM and the associated phone number to another iPhone. To transfer features, all that is need to do is make sure both iPhones are within range of one another and the Bluetooth is turned on besides the iPhone being unlocked.

 

eSIM functionality was introduced for iPhones starting with the iPhone XS model. Additionally, only eSIMs are supported in both SIM slots of the iPhone 13 series from a year ago in a few locations.

The new capability could be a hint that Apple would soon make eSIMs the standard SIM technology for iPhones. This will lead to ease of activation by reducing the bottlenecks of instant activation, no use of paper documents leading to a far more content user.
