eSIM for ITB Berlin: How to Stay Connected at the Travel Trade Fair

Heading to ITB Berlin? Here’s what the world’s leading travel trade fair is, the current dates, and how a Germany eSIM can help you stay connected at Messe Berlin and across the city without unexpected roaming charges or swapping SIM cards between meetings.

Anyone who works in travel already knows ITB Berlin it’s the industry’s annual meeting point, where tourism boards present campaigns, airlines discuss new routes, and travel businesses connect with partners from around the world. What first-time visitors may not expect is how much of the experience depends on their phone.

Schedules change, meetings run back to back, and you may need to check directions to another hall, reply to emails between sessions or find your way back to your hotel. All of this is easier when your phone has reliable mobile data from the moment you arrive.

This guide covers the basics of attending ITB Berlin and how to prepare your mobile connectivity before you travel.

What is ITB Berlin? (and when is it?)

ITB Berlin is one of the world’s leading travel trade shows, bringing together professionals from across the tourism industry at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. The event is designed for trade visitors, exhibitors and industry professionals rather than the general public.

The next edition, ITB Berlin 2027, takes place from March 16 to 18, 2027, with daily opening hours from 10 am to 6 pm. The venue is Berlin ExpoCenter City, Messedamm 22, 14055 Berlin, Germany.

The 2026 edition welcomed nearly 97,000 attendees and featured 5,601 exhibitors from 166 countries.

Staying connected at Messe Berlin

Planning your mobile connectivity before the event can make your trip easier. During a busy trade fair, you may need to check the event app, find meeting locations, exchange contact details, send documents or arrange transport across Berlin.

A travel eSIM for Germany can help you get online without purchasing a physical SIM card after landing.

Here’s how it can help:

• Get connected without visiting a SIM shop. Purchase an eligible eSIM online and install it before travelling, following the provider’s instructions.
• Know your data costs in advance. A prepaid plan lets you check the price and data allowance before purchasing, helping you avoid unexpected pay-as-you-go roaming charges.
• Use maps and work apps on the go. Mobile data can help you navigate Berlin, check emails and access meeting details. Actual speed and coverage depend on the network, location and plan.
• Keep your home SIM available. On a compatible dual-SIM phone, you can keep your regular SIM installed while using the eSIM for data. Check your phone settings and home carrier’s roaming terms to avoid unwanted charges.

A pocket Wi-Fi hotspot can be useful when several people need to share one connection. For an individual attendee moving between meetings, an eSIM can be more convenient because it does not require carrying another device.

Before you fly, compare Airhub’s Germany eSIM plans. Available data allowances, validity periods and network capabilities depend on the plan you choose.
